Lion Whisperer

(South Africa 2014)

In 2014, following a report on Kevin Richardson, the man who lived with his lions, I decided to leave.

This former behaviorist, passionate about felines and especially lions, managed to create a kingdom of lions, a sanctuary where felines live protected. The lions recovered are often from traffic. In South Africa there is a big business on lion hunting safaris. The billionaires of the planet pay a small fortune (around 50,000 euros) to be able to "shoot" a lion. It's even more expensive for the famous white lion.

Kevin denounces these practices and tries to recover these lions (raised babies to serve to bait the tourist in the camps where we can touch them), and then put them at the mercy of future hunting safaris. It has a huge area, a few hours drive from Johannesburg.

The work on site is varied. By cons you will have no direct contact with the felines (except hyenas) because a lion remains a lion! The day is settled by the staff on site who dispatches the volunteers by group. You can be at the service "cut of meat" (do not fear the sight of the blood because they are whole horses that sometimes come to the cutting.), Like maintenance of the bush around.

Do not hesitate to go there, it's fabulous!
